#photoromancejournalism

i'm making up a new word. [photo-romance-journalism]. it's a marriage between photojournalism & the ethereal, because isn't that what life is about? a coupling of beauty & reality. because aren't we all at heart a little bit romantic about our lives? because don't I get bored of seeing the moment without a rose-coloured filter?

my logical brain craves reason & truth. but that can't be all there is. there's a reason we as a species have miraculous in-built cognitive adaptations that blur reality: to cope with life. illusions, biases, feelings of grandeur, of being luckier than the rest, of life being less risky than it is. optimism. hope. faith. love. all those metaphysical inexplicable things that make us tick.

so I say, embrace the moment, but let's make it a tad pretty, too.

(by-the-by, this is not my first time making up a new term. when I was a scientist, we came up with a whole new subfield: PsychoAnthroPaediatrics... romantic or what?)
